Minotaur - Μινώταυρος
In Greek mythology, the Minotaur was son of Passiphae, who was the wife of Minos, king of Crete. It was a creature with human body and the head of a bull.. (Minotaur means the bull of Minos). King Minos prisoned this creature in Labyrinth, a construction designed by Daedalus. Seven young men and seven young women of Athens, were offered as a sacrifice to the Minotaur every year, till Theseus, son of King of Athens, Aegeas, travelled to Crete and killed the monster.
Ο Μινώταυρος κατά την αρχαία ελληνική μυθολογία, ήταν γιος της Πασιφάης, γυναίκας του Μίνωα, του βασιλιά της Κρήτης. Ήταν ένα πλάσμα που είχε ανθρώπινο σώμα και κεφάλι ταύρου. Το πλάσμα αυτό ο Μίνωας το φυλάκισε μέσα σε ένα κτίσμα που σχεδίασε ο Δαίδαλος και το ονόμασαν Λαβύρινθο. Στο Μινώταυρο θυσιάζονταν κάθε χρόνο επτά νέοι και επτά νέες των Αθηνών, έως ότου ο Θησέας, γιος του βασιλιά της Αθήνας Αιγαία, ταξίδεψε έως την Κρήτη και σκότωσε το τέρας.
